LGBTQ-Affirming Affordable Senior Housing

Description

1515 – 1519 Broadway • Seattle, WA 98122

Capitol Hill Housing and GenPRIDE are collaborating on Seattle’s first affordable housing project designed to be an affirming environment for LGBTQ elders and the greater LGBTQ community.

LGBTQ seniors face a unique set of challenges and health disparities as they age: compared to their peers, they are more likely to be in poverty, are at higher risk for illness, are less likely to have the support of children or biological family, and often face discrimination and difficulty finding culturally competent care.

With an anticipated 125 affordable homes and a ground floor community and health services center operated by GenPRIDE, the building will incorporate design, programming and health interventions affirming of LGBTQ elders.

On a similar timeline to Africatown Plaza, we anticipate breaking ground in 2021.
