Byrd Barr Place Fire Station 23 Renovation

Byrd Barr

Description

722 18th Ave • Seattle, WA 98122

A community action agency supporting Seattle’s Central District, Byrd Barr Place was originally founded as the Central Area Motivation Program (CAMP) in 1964. Initially launched as a grassroots organization designed to ignite community activism, Byrd Barr Place has evolved into an organization that helps to ensure that all people in the Seattle area have the opportunity to be self-sufficient.

In their historic home inside the 110-year-old Fire Station 23, Byrd Barr Place provides myriad anti-poverty programs and services, including energy assistance, housing assistance, a food bank and home delivery nutrition program, personal finance education and more.

By undertaking ownership of the property and a major renovation of their building interior, Byrd Barr Place will ensure that the Firehouse continues to be a historic and cultural anchor for the community for decades to come, as well as better serve clients in a facility that is modern, comfortable, safe, and spacious.

Renovations were completed in 2022.
